Eight sheets of 4-koma (four-panel) manga (4 strips glued to each sheet), totalling 32 episodes. 18 episodes have been hand-colored. Illustrating the details of everyman Mr. P-ko's daily life in Sugamo Prison, the strip was frequently published in the bi-weekly prison newspaper, "Sugamo Shinbun." Paper is very delicate with significant staining and discoloration, occasional small tears at the edges throughout. Images are otherwise in good condition.

Fifty sheets of hand-colored 4-koma manga (4 panels per page) in previously bound hard board notebook. Page 1 is black paper cover/title page with color image of P-ko and Japanese title information. Page 2 is "P-ko no soubetsukai" (P-ko's farewell party), signed with tributes from various people. Illustrating the details of everyman Mr. P-ko's daily life in Sugamo Prison, the strip was frequently published in the bi-weekly prison newspaper, "Sugamo Shinbun." 23 drawings (11 portraits, 8 botanicals, 2 sketches of a man lying in a prison cell, two garden sketches) and one handwritten letter in previously bound notebook. One portrait is charcoal. One portrait is signed "Y. Suzuki" or "T. Suzuki" (could possibly be the likeness of Teiichi Suzuki). Seven botanical sketches also have watercolor pigment applied; one uncolored botanical sketch is on the verso of a colored botanical sketch. The included letter is to Fujiki from James K. Sasaki on the occasion of latter's release. Many of the portraits and three botanicals are signed "F. Fujiki" or "F. F.;" four colored botanical sketches are signed "M. Wada." 75 original drawings by Fumio Fujiki, used in the books Nakiwarai Sugamo nikki (1953) and Sugamo densetsu (1996). Images show scenes of daily life at Sugamo Prison, featuring prisoners, guards, and various types of work and recreation. Each image is mounted to paper or board with publication markings and page numbers (most are accurate) in both final published volumes. A few images bear the signature of the author as "F.F." or "F. Fujiki," usually in the lower right corner of the image.

Six images have Japanese handwritten captions or text; all others with text have English handwritten in the images or typed and mounted as captions below. Many images are unsigned; about half are signed "Fumio" in Japanese in the lower left corner; four are signed F. Fujiki: three in the lower right corner and one in the lower left.
