[Yellow linen smock decorated with drawings of cartoon characters] - Biedermann, Louis, 1874-1957

Signed and dated, above the back hem: "L Biederman July 9 1926". Biederman drew the cartoon characters for the book 'All the funny folks' published by The World Today in 1926. This appears to be a smock decorated by Biedermann featuring many or those famous cartoon characters. Drawings on back yoke and lower right side front are dedicated to "Una" (his daughter??). The smock is also signed by the writer Jack Lait, who wrote the text for the book and by "J.D. Gortatowsky" and "Joe Connolly" of King Features. "Arthur Wynne" signed the hem with three bars of music. Written on the pocket of the smock is the quote "Medbury says - "A smock on the back is worth two on the jaw"".
